Heart Rate Monitor Project -- Colin Knight

This activity was really something I have never done before, granted I have taken my heart rate in PE class back in high school, but I have never actually recorded large amounts of data and recorded it as a project. Also, most of these activities I have actually never performed such as 'Snow Fight' or 'Prison Ball'. They all had their own unique rules and activities that myself and I'm sure many of my peers have never experienced. As you can see my data is all over the place, this is because certain activities take a certain amount of energy to perform. The amount of steps you take is usually directly related to the heart rate you acquire after that activity, for example, playing 'Continuous kickball' my heart rate was at 120 with 688 steps. This makes sense because its a continuous activity that takes more energy to perform, thus causing my heart rate to jump. After each activity, my body felt different. If an activity was less demanding physically, my body was less warm and more cool. Therefore my amount of steps was most likely lower as was my heart rate. However, if an activity was vigorous such as 'Prison Ball', my body was warmed up and I was probably sweating due to the amount of steps I had taken during it. I felt my heart rate and steps taken did match up correctly, and did make sense. I feel this because I can tell when an activity is less demanding than the next, so when my steps are lower my heart rate should be lower and vice-versa. This activity was something new to me, and I can say I enjoyed it. It brought to my attention how your heart rate affects your body's temperature with a various amount of steps you take during any activity. I can definitely say that as I venture into the future I will use this activity in my PE classes, and will discuss with students the importance of taking heart rates after an activity.
