Scientific and Theoretical Knowledge
Physical education teacher candidates know and apply discipline-specific scientific and theoretical concepts critical to the development of physically educated individuals.
Artifact: Heart Rate Monitor Project
Date: Spring 2015
Reflection: This project was done during my Technology in Physical Education course in the Spring semester of 2015. It fits under standard 1 because it allows me to show how different activities will affect the way your body reacts to them. For example, an activity that required more steps would most likely result in a higher heart rate, thus warming the body and making you sweat. This activity was done during a series of teachings done by other students, over a couple of weeks. The data we took was based off a pedometer for our steps, then we calculated our heart rates right after each activity. This is a good project to use for students during PE classes, and teaches them the importance of using their heart rates as a guide for physical activity.
